Pinelands Preservation Alliance and Impact100 South Jersey, Perfect Together!

Beyond The Check, Grants, SJ WOMEN GIVE
Impact100 South Jersey members had a picture perfect day to experience the beauty of the Pinelands with a hike at the Black Run Preserve in Evesham Township. The hike was led by Carleton Montgomery, Executive Director of the Pinelands Preservation Alliance (PPA), one of our two 2022 $50,000 general operating grantees. Carleton was excited to share their work with our members when Nonprofit Outreach committee member, Susan Andrew, reached out to organize this meetup.  During the 1.5 hour hike through the preserve, members were treated to beautiful scenery and an overview of the history of the Pinelands.  They learned about the unique composition of the water and soil that make this ecosystem different from other forest habitats. They also learned how suburban development impacts the environment and the ways PPA…

2022 Member Survey Results

Membership, SJ WOMEN GIVE
Over the summer, we conducted a member survey to learn more about our members: how long they’ve been part of Impact100, what motivated them to join and renew, and how they want to be engaged with committees and each other. Many thanks members who responded and provided detailed comments.  Among those who responded, we have a fairly even mix of members who initially joined in each year we’ve been around – going back to those charter members from 2017. What most influenced members to join were leveraging their donation to have more impact (78.46%) and being part of a community of like-minded women (80.6%). More than half (59%) also noted the flexibility to be as involved as they choose.    Serving on Committees Among those who responded, 72% serve on a committee, with most serving…

Pinelands alliance and Cedar Run refuge get $50,000 each By MATTHEW SHINKLE August 23, 2022 About five years ago, a small group of South Jersey women had the goal of organizing their own branch of Impact 100, a women’s collective that awards more than $100,000 in grant funds annually to area nonprofits. The initial group of six founding members was able to recruit the necessary number of members to jumpstart Impact100 South Jersey, connecting women across Camden, Gloucester and Burlington counties who were interested in assisting local charities and nonprofits.  The group recently announced awards of $100,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Cumberland County and two $50,000 grants to the Pinelands Preservation Alliance and the Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge. Total awards from Impact100 South Jersey, have now…

GRANTEE SPOTLIGHT: HOPEWORKS ‘N CAMDEN

Grants, SJ WOMEN GIVE
How Our First Grant Helped Transform The Organization In 2018, Impact100SJ awarded our very first grant of $74,000 to Hopeworks ‘N Camden, a Camden-based organization that provides young people ages 17-26 with training in coding, web development and entrepreneurship. At the time, Hopeworks had been operating for many years out of a row home in Camden, but they had outgrown it. More young people than could fit into its space wanted to participate in its training opportunities. Hopeworks had obtained a larger space but needed funding to fit out and develop the space with desks, learning stations, technology training curriculum and software to better prepare its young people for a range of well-paying jobs. The Impact100 South Jersey grant helped make it happen as Hopeworks was moving to its new…

How Grantee Family Promise Is Using Impact100 Grant to Address Family Homelessness

Grants, SJ WOMEN GIVE
Since 2020, Family Promise of Southwest New Jersey has been awarded $143,000 in Impact100 South Jersey grants. The mission of Family Promise, which is located in Gloucester County, is to provide homeless families an opportunity to achieve stability by providing shelter, food, case management, and hospitality while simultaneously using resources within local congregations and the community. In 2020, Family Promise was a finalist, and in 2021, they were awarded our $100,000 Core Mission grant. The goal of the project for which they received the Core Mission Grant focuses on Family Promise's shelter reduction plan, which aims to reduce the number of home-insecure families with whom they work from entering shelters, and instead help them work to stabilize their existing housing situation. One of the main ways our grant does that is through the disbursement…
