How The Tender is Using Its 2024 Community Heroes Grant

2025 Community Heroes grant recipient, The Tender, Inc. is a non-profit Adult Day Center and Caregiver Support Program in Mount Laurel, NJ, created with the sole purpose of providing for the specialized needs of seniors and their caregivers. Their name refers to the small boat (a tender) that ferries passengers from the shore to the waiting ship, a gentle metaphor for the journey of aging. The Big Reveal: 191 Members Means $191,000 For 2025 Grants!

We are truly grateful to all of our 2025 members for their contribution to our 2025 grants! At our Big Reveal on January 8th we announced that we have 191 members and $191,000 in grant funding which will be awarded at our Annual Meeting on June 12th. This brings the grand total of grant funding raised since 2017 to $1,411,360. The Hispanic Family Center of Southern New Jersey (HFC), a 2024 grant recipient, provides comprehensive programs and services that address the immediate needs (physical, mental, social, and economic) of the residents of Southern New Jersey, as well as establishes the organization as an instrument of change and a voice of power for those they serve and represent. The $27,500 General Operating Grant is unrestricted funding, however HFC will use the funds towards the project outlined in their core mission grant application to create a Mental Health Healing Garden. Newly sworn-in Camden County CASA Volunteers Impact100 South Jersey 2024 Core Mission grant recipient, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children of Atlantic, Cape May, and Camden Counties, is making strides in Camden County to provide needed one-on-one advocacy for children removed from their homes due to allegations of abuse or neglect. Impact100 South Jersey funding has allowed them to increase public awareness, build Camden County relationships, and increase volunteer engagement through community awareness, public relations, and media outreach. Over our years of service, CASA has paired thousands of children and youth living in foster care with a CASA Volunteer Advocate. Doyle (MJD) Fieldhouse. The core of their mission is to Improve the lives of women, children, and families living in low-to-moderate income households in the Waterfront South neighborhood, South Camden, and the City of Camden as a whole. Critical services provided by the Bridge Builders Project serve as a bridge to connect outside volunteers and supporters, educating them about the city and building stronger connections with the community.
