This is Valerie Buickerood’s second year as a member of Impact100 SJ and the nonprofit executive couldn’t be more excited or grateful. Valerie is Director of Engagement and Communications at Hopeworks 'N Camden, where the economic fallout from COVID-19 has been devastating for many families. But Hopeworks is keeping its young people employed through the pandemic. It’s thanks to the organization’s solid financial base, and Hopeworks’ new Camden Capacity Fund which is raising money to provide free professional services to other Camden non-profits that will continue to keep youth employed in their social enterprises.  “It’s this kind of creative thinking that makes Hopeworks such a dynamic organization,” Valerie says “and one of the qualities that won us the admiration of Impact100 SJ.” The Camden non-profit was selected as Impact100 SJ’s…

Val is a Principal Consultant at ALTA Impact Partners. She has been in the nonprofit sector for 20 years, most recently with Cooper’s Ferry Partnership in Camden, before founding ALTA. So many members have heard how Kyle feels about Impact100. As one of the founders and info session presenters, Kyle shares her feelings about the initiative she helped give birth to and the pride and joy it brings. In her words, Kyle tells us how Impact100 is about living out her purpose. "I come from a long line of people who put others first. My parents and extended family, by example, taught me that a life well-lived is one that makes others smile, suffer less or supports them as they work to achieve their goals. It was a lesson that, until recently, I'm not sure I even realized was being beamed into my head. Through reflective hindsight, I now see that I've always found a way to insert service to…

Jen is one of our Leadership Council Members as well as a Charter Member who was sponsored by her employer, the law firm Weber Gallagher. Here's why she believe Impact100 South Jersey is a good community for her. My entire life I’ve been inspired by my mother and grandmothers to give back. All three of these very special women made time to volunteer for organizations they felt passionate about, making certain to donate not only money but their time. I remember accompanying my mom as a child to wrap gifts to raise money for various charitable organizations. I joined Impact100 South Jersey the first year because I thought it was a wonderful idea to have so many amazing women join together to fund such an impactful grant. I feel it…

Lauren Regina, Impact100 SJ Membership Co-Chair and Leadership Council Member During June of 2018, I was scrolling through my Facebook page when one post, above anything else I’d read and seen that day, caught my attention. Pictured was a large group of women surrounding an oversized check held by representatives of Hopeworks, a local Camden charity. The check was in the amount $74,000! I studied the photo and reread the post several times and after a few seconds I said to myself, I’m going to join this group! Two months later, while attending a local community event, I was introduced to a polished and polite woman named Nancy. After talking awhile, and hitting it off, she asked me if I ever heard of Impact100. I answered “YES!” and that I…

Meet Wendy Frantz. You may recognize her from the 2019 Annual Meeting. She was the lovely lady accompanying the photographer and collecting names of the guests. That photographer was Kerry Walsh of Kerry Anne Photography — Wendy's former student. Like many of our members, Wendy believes in introducing the next generation to collective giving. In Her Words...here's what attracted Wendy to Impact100 South Jersey. "I first heard about Impact100 SJ from my friend Judy Greenberg. She was incredibly excited about the work she was doing to provide grant money to nonprofit organizations in South Jersey. Her enthusiasm was infectious and I attended an information session at the Haddon Fortnightly to learn more about it. There I learned everything I needed to know; joining Impact100 SJ was a great opportunity to…

Meet Julie Strohlein. She's one of the new members of the Impact100 SJ Leadership Council, serving as our treasurer. She is also one of the 5 women sponsored by our generous supporter Alloy Silverstein Accountants and Advisors. In Her Words...here's why she finds being involved with Impact100 South Jersey so rewarding. "Like many people, I have been involved in various charitable endeavors over the years.  Often this consists of simply donating money, but sometimes the investment is greater and I give my time.  Whether this is by serving on a non-profit board, volunteering to help with my sons’ sports teams, or leading a team at my company’s annual adopt-a-family program, the act of giving my time always makes me feel more connected to the project.   I am thrilled to be doing that…

Elizabeth presenting at an Impact100 SJ Membership Info Session. When I worked full time as a Human Resources Vice President for Lockheed Martin, being actively involved in community service was a dream I hoped to someday realize.  Working 50-60 hours a week with a heavy travel schedule left me with little time for other endeavors.  But that dream began to take shape when I retired.  Joining Impact100 was a logical next step for me.  A women’s collective giving effort would allow me to amplify the impact of my giving, meet and work with like-minded women, and have a strong impact on my community.  Since joining as a Charter Member in 2017, I’ve become involved in membership recruitment, public relations & communication efforts and events planning.  I’ve introduced friends and colleagues to Impact100 by hosting information sessions…
