Member Profiles
With her background in non-profit management, Patti Withington has a soft spot for organizations that do good work in the world. It’s exactly why she became a founding member of Impact100 South Jersey and served on the leadership council for two years. It’s also why she is ecstatic to see the organization grow from an initial eight founding members to 14 on the leadership council and a membership of 186. Bringing in more powerful minds and the innovation that comes with diverse viewpoints is exciting for everyone she says.  So too is the growth of our capacity to give, especially at a time when nonprofit organizations need it more than ever. “COVID-19 has hurt all New Jersey nonprofits in different ways,” she explains. “In South Jersey, it’s always been challenging…

A second-year member of Impact100 SJ, Kelly is also proud of Alloy Silverstein’s response to COVID-19, educating clients with a steady stream of news and advice on everything from PPP loans to unemployment.  “There are many unknowns for my agricultural clients as they begin their season. Will they be able to get workers to pick the crops? What happens if someone gets infected? How will we maintain social distancing? For clients…

Elena Piperno attended an information session at the Ronald McDonald House in October 2019. But even before then, she knew she was interested in joining Impact100 South Jersey. After reading about us on social media and recognizing some faces, she was intrigued by the idea of women contributing equally to generate high impact grants to local non-profit organizations.  It was no surprise Elena immediately joined our ranks effective this year.   Elena was raised with a family culture of philanthropic generosity.  Her dad, Pepe Piperno, spent his early years in Camden and has a long history of community support.  At the early age of six, Elena became involved in the family tradition of delivering Christmas baskets to Camden families through Sacred Heart Church. This early experience instilled in her the importance of giving back and community…

Dawn Hunter was introduced to Impact100 SJ in 2019 as part of the team that applied for the $100,000 grant awarded to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland and Salem Counties. Her meeting with grant review committee members left a first great impression.  A few weeks later, she was introduced to leadership council member Angela Venti at a meeting of the Vineland Chamber of Commerce where Dawn is Executive Director. “I was feeling so grateful that Big Brothers Big Sisters was the grant recipient and then I met Angela. It just seemed like more than a coincidence, so I decided to join and give back.”  The $100,000 grant supports Big Brothers Big Sisters’ new program, Mentor 2.0, which pairs ‘Bigs’ with high school students so they can receive guidance about…

Lois Greco has been a member of Impact100 SJ since its inaugural year, 2018.  After initial hesitation, Lois enthusiastically joined for two reasons: Kyle Ruffin asked her and she recognized that women’s collective philanthropy aligned perfectly with her values.  Lois is passionate about inspiring generosity, creating a culture of philanthropy, and building community.  Being a member of Impact100 SJ is one more way she can fulfill her mission of making the world more beautiful.  She has spent more than 2 decades of her professional life building her legacy and continues to do so on a personal level. Being in community with women whom she knew professionally, but now gets to know more personally is an extension of that work.   Lois is very excited by the concept that women’s membership can be sponsored.  This is especially important…

Valerie is Director of Engagement and Communications at Hopeworks 'N Camden, where the economic fallout from COVID-19 has been devastating for many families. But Hopeworks is keeping its young people employed through the pandemic. It’s thanks to the organization’s solid financial base, and Hopeworks’ new Camden Capacity Fund which is raising money to provide free professional services to other Camden non-profits that will continue to keep youth employed in their social enterprises.  “It’s this kind of creative thinking that makes Hopeworks such a dynamic organization,” Valerie says “and one of the qualities that won us the admiration of Impact100 SJ.” The Camden non-profit was selected as Impact100 SJ’s…
