Susan strongly believes in the mission of Impact100 South Jersey. “I enjoy catching up with long-time friends and colleagues, many of whom I haven’t seen in quite a while. We have shared experiences and goals, but often live separate lives, and Impact100 allows us to reconnect. Plus, Impact100’s contributions are significant and meaningful to South Jersey non-profit organizations. It proves there is power in numbers,” said Susan. She is also very impressed by the young women who know how important it is to make a give back. As a very prominent South Jersey community member, Susan's accomplishments are numerous. GRANTEE SPOTLIGHT: 2022 $50,000 Grantee Creates Accessible Nature Trails

The Pinelands Preservation Alliance (PPA) received a $50,000 general operating grant in July of 2022 from Impact 100 South Jersey. Funds were applied to support the Pinelands Is for Everyone initiative. This funding helped build PPA’s internal capacity to finalize plans, provide staff training and develop accessible ecotours, purchase adaptive equipment, and hire a full-time Access Nature and Disabilities Advocate to oversee and coordinate the program. PPA’s Pinelands Adventures program has devoted substantial time to training itself to lead inclusive programs, designing and testing inclusive hikes with the help of individuals with various kinds of disabilities. PPA hired Sean Kane-Holland in November of 2022 to serve as the lead staff person and advocate for the Pinelands Is for Everyone initiative. A perfect fit for PPA and the initiative, Sean graduated…

Two-time Grantee, Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS)of Cumberland & Salem Counties sees Impact100SJ members as a path to their success. BBBS of Cumberland & Salem Counties has received two Impact100 South Jersey grants in four years. In 2019, they were awarded our Core Mission grant of $100K to help launch their new Mentor2.0 project which uses iMentor technology to match high school students with mentors. This year, they were one of two 2023 recipients of a $55,500 general operating grant. A member since 2019, Cindy Washko-Margraf was a bit disappointed that she didn’t know about Impact100 South Jersey one year earlier. Being a philanthropist at heart, she deeply endorses the concept of collective giving and would have loved to have been a charter member. Nevertheless, she is very proud to be a member for the last five years and to be a part of such an impactful group of women making a real difference in South Jersey. Cindy and her late husband raised their children in Medford though she recently sold the family home and now lives full time in their Ocean City home. On June 8, Impact100 South Jersey was among four recipients of Oaks Integrated Care's Rooted In Community Awards. The event took place at Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ. Oaks Integrated Care is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children, adults and families living with a mental illness, addiction or developmental disability. The organization offers over 230 health and social service programs throughout New Jersey designed to meet the needs of our community with compassion. Alice Paul: In Pursuit of Ordinary Equality Written by Impact100 Member Ginny DeLong On May 6th, the Non-Profit Outreach Committee welcomed 20 Impact100 SJ members to Paulsdale, the ancestral home of women’s suffrage leader Alice Paul and now the headquarters of the Alice Paul Institute (API). The organization was the 2020 recipient of a $43,000 general operating grant that was used to help expand the national reach of its girl’s leadership programs by enhancing their digital presence. During the brief lecture and slide presentation by volunteer Mary Kimport, Impact members learned about the life and work of Alice Paul, the history of what was once a 175-acre farm, and the incredible struggle to win the right to vote for women.
