Our Impact Goes Way Beyond Awarding Grants The message below was sent to Impact100 South Jersey Grant Chair Kim Moon the day after our Annual Meeting. It was from Mike O'Malley, Executive Director of Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge — one of our 2021 $50,000 general operating grant recipients.  Hi Kim, Thank you for reaching out. We are absolutely celebrating! Receiving any grant is fantastic, but it really means so much more to us knowing that this support is coming from 200 amazing local women. It is really an honor for us to have the confidence and support from all of you. We will most definitely be considering a 2022 proposal. Family Promise of Southwest NJ provides homeless families with an opportunity to achieve stability by providing shelter, food, case management, and hospitality while simultaneously utilizing resources within local congregations and the community. Over the next two years, Glassboro-based organization will use our grant for their Promising Futures Program which supports families through financial literacy training, job search assistance, connections to resources within our community, and assistance finding permanent affordable…

On June 6th at our 4th Annual Meeting, one of these three organizations will be awarded our $100,000 core mission grant. The other two will receive $$50,000 general operating grants. Community Health and Wellbeing Focus Area: The NJ Agricultural Society/Farmers Against Hunger (Burlington County) The NJ Agricultural Society/Farmers Against Hunger connects healthy food from farms to families.Their project will formally establish the Farmers Against Hunger Land Stewardship Center in Burlington County, which will address the problems of food insecurity, lack of access to healthy food, and inequitable distribution of food across certain populations and geographic regions.  Women, Children and Family Focus Area: Family Promise of Southwest NJ (Gloucester County) Family Promise works to empower and support working families, low-income families and families experiencing homelessness. The results are in!  The grant review committees for our three Focus Areas — Women, Children and Family; Community Health and Well-being; Education — have met virtually. Community Health & Well-Being Focus Area aims to increase 2021 Impact100 SJ grant applicant pool. It’s hard to dispute that this year’s events have been ground shaking.   Leading the way were COVID-19 and the cries for racial justice that moved so many to act, including the members of Impact100 South Jersey.  Members reached out looking for ways we could collectively make a meaningful difference in an increasingly complicated world. Every year after the Annual Meeting, the Impact100 South Jersey Leadership Council evaluates our entire program including the Grant process. As a result, we determined the Grants process was the perfect place to start to generate change. With input from some of our members, many of whom are senior non-profit leaders, and from some of our grantees, we reassessed our grant eligibility and guidelines for…

In the spring of 2018, Hopeworks relocated from a cramped row house to an office-like setting in Camden. Our $74,000 grant — the collective contributions of our Charter Members — allowed them to use this space to set up new and much-needed program offerings in academic skills and technology training. This allowed Hopeworks to offer the youth they serve increased opportunities for permanent employment at higher wages.This investment of funds from Impact100 South Jersey has paid off handsomely according to Dan Rhoton, Executive Director. "We have dramatically expanded our services and effectiveness...today, when a young person walks into Hopeworks, they make less than $900 annually.
