Member Profiles
When asked why she joined Impact100 SJ, Lois Gabin-Legato, a C-Suite senior executive at the Philadelphia Foundation, said, “I feel a personal responsibility to give back to our community. Impact100 SJ offers that at a grass roots level where you can touch and feel it… where you can learn where the need is and be able to help. The pandemic made me think about how many organizations had to shut down and needed help. I wanted to see our community thrive and Impact100 gave me the opportunity to help others thrive. That’s a GREAT feeling.”  As a professional in the philanthropic sector, Lois was aware of the collective giving model and had read about Impact100. She noticed the organization surface often in the local media. After watching how the chapter was…

I also loved learning about that year’s finalists — nonprofits I had not heard of before. It was inspiring.” When Kim subsequently contacted Jennifer and shared her idea for an Impact100 South Jersey, her reply was, “Count me in!” Jennifer was among the 74 charter members in 2017. Donna Siegel Moffa has a long history of involvement in non-profit organizations.  And when she heard about Impact100 SJ from friend Elizabeth Mangino Wallace, she immediately knew it was an organization she wanted to join.    “I was drawn by the notion of women doing something collectively to have a significant local impact. Women aren’t always recognized for their philanthropic efforts. I saw Impact100 SJ as a way to expand local women’s philanthropic reach and amplify the message that we can and do make a difference in our communities.” Donna became a member of Impact in 2019, and the timing was perfect for her. She had recently completed a term as President of the Cathedral Kitchen Board of Directors, on which she served for 10 years, and was looking for a new opportunity to get…

Member Profiles
Elizabeth Kennedy had never heard of the concept of collective giving before reading an article about Impact100 South Jersey in the Philadelphia Inquirer in the fall of 2018. She found the idea interesting and reached out to the journalist, Kevin Riordan, who then connected her to Nancy Weber. After meeting Nancy and learning more, Elizabeth recognized membership as a great educational opportunity to learn critical skills for assessing nonprofits. She loved that the impact made by the grants was local and addressed the needs of the community, but joining also would meet her own desire to be more educated about philanthropy, particularly collective giving. Becoming a member in 2019, Elizabeth immediately set out to learn about the nonprofit financial process by joining the Grant Finance Committee. There she was super impressed by the…

Catherine Allen-Carlozo has been a member of Impact100 South Jersey since 2019.  She had heard from several members she knew about how Impact100 South Jersey was making a difference in the community. However, attending the annual meeting and watching the grant awards process convinced her of the true power of the organizations.  "It is one of the few organizations I know that has such a collective drive that each one of us feels like we made a huge difference with our contribution. It has a purposeful goal of how the recipient applies for the grant, what it will be used for, and how each member votes on the final awards.  We know that our donation will be utilized the way it was intended.  Many large organizations are not transparent about where the…
