If you recognize Irene Giman, CFA, CFP®, it’s not just because she is a Senior Financial Planner with RTD Financial and has an extensive background in Finance — including an MBA from The Wharton School in Finance, it’s also because Irene serves on Impact100 of South Jersey’s Leadership Council. A Charter Member of the chapter, Irene’s first experience with Impact100 was with one of our neighboring chapters, Impact100 of Philadelphia. Michele Weckerly has always been drawn to groups and organizations where women are able to realize their collective power. Impact100 South Jersey is one of those organizations that she is proud to be a part of. After learning about the collective giving model from Kim Moon in 2018, Michele was all in on becoming a member of the newly founded South Jersey Impact100 group. An alumna of Douglas College, the residential women’s college at Rutgers University where she studied history and political science, Michele learned how a strong group of women have the potential to make great impact. As with so many other Impact100 SJ members, Jill Sayre Lawlor first learned about the organization from founding member Nancy Weber, whom Jill has known for many years. Jill received a call from Nancy and, after attending an information session in 2019, Jill joined and has been active in the organization ever since. “When I joined, I realized I already knew so many members whose professional and personal accomplishments are inspiring to me. A few years back, Jennifer Fontaine was invited to attend the Impact100 Philadelphia annual meeting by her long-time friend and Philly Chapter member, Kim Moon. “It was such a great night — I loved seeing the power of women combining their talents and funds and working together. I also loved learning about that year’s finalists — nonprofits I had not heard of before. Donna Siegel Moffa has a long history of involvement in non-profit organizations. And when she heard about Impact100 SJ from friend Elizabeth Mangino Wallace, she immediately knew it was an organization she wanted to join. “I was drawn by the notion of women doing something collectively to have a significant local impact. Elizabeth Kennedy had never heard of the concept of collective giving before reading an article about Impact100 South Jersey in the Philadelphia Inquirer in the fall of 2018. She found the idea interesting and reached out to the journalist, Kevin Riordan, who then connected her to Nancy Weber. After meeting Nancy and learning more, Elizabeth recognized membership as a great educational opportunity to learn critical skills for assessing nonprofits. She loved that the impact made by the grants was local and addressed the needs of the community, but joining also would meet her own desire to be more educated about philanthropy, particularly collective giving. Congratulations to Kyle Ruffin for receiving Philanos' first Willoughby Award for Leadership In Women's Philanthropy. Philanos is the national organization for women's giving circles around the world. This inaugural award in honor of Colleen S. Willoughby, the founder of both the Washington Women's Foundation and Philanos, honors visionary women leaders in philanthropy who, like Colleen, have taken the field into exciting, new directions. Though Rosemarie Parker is a relatively new member, she has already realized the significant effect Impact100 South Jersey has on supporting area nonprofits in their ability to serve the community. Rosemarie began her relationship with Impact when she applied for an annual grant for the nonprofit Family Promise of Southwest New Jersey. The organization received a $43,000 grant from Impact100 South Jersey in 2020. "I got to know some of the women through the application process and was so impressed with their genuine passion for the work they are doing," Rosemarie said.
