As President/CEO of the Cumberland and Salem County Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program for youth, Donna Bennett was introduced to Impact100 South Jersey as a potential grant awardee. Much to her delight, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland & Salem Counties did indeed receive a grant in 2019. It was through this experience that Donna knew she wanted to become a part of Impact100 South Jersey where she saw firsthand the tremendous impact that a group of women, joined together, can make to such worthy causes in their community. BEYOND THE CHECK: Farmers Against Hunger Delivers Despite Challenging Conditions

Beyond The Check, Grants
NJ Agricultural Society's Farmers Against Hunger program (FAH), a 2021 Impact100 South Jersey General Operating Grantee, has been working through a perfect storm of national challenges at the local level. Meeting the needs of struggling farmers, families, and community organizations facing a pandemic, inflation, and drought made their programs even more critical to the region. But they have shown up and flexed to meet the demand. New Jersey farmers faced so many obstacles this year and many were not able to offer the amount of surplus crops that they have in the past. Abnormal climate conditions, such as early spring followed by spring frost that damaged plantings, combined with drought later in the season, made growing conditions extremely challenging. On top of that, inflation, which affected fuel costs for tractors…

BEYOND THE CHECK: Yogas & Alpacas at Ronald McDonald House

Beyond The Check, Grants
How to bring joy to kids?  Bring Alpacas to Ronald McDonald House. YES, Alapacas. Supporting our grantees and their missions can take many forms. Impact100 South Jersey Nonprofit Outreach Committee Co-Chair Sue Levy-Polikoff arranged a visit from Morning Glori Farmette located in Marlton, NJ for the first ever Alpaca visit. Rocky and Party Crasher were a big hit, even though some families were a bit apprehensive in the beginning. During another visit, Sue taught Yoga to parents, staff and some of the kids who are undergoing treatment or post op treatment/therapy at local hospitals." I don't think the parents realized how much they needed this till they noticed their bodies starting to relax which is huge." Levy-Polikoff also created activity packets for the kids that included word search with yoga words…

As a newcomer to South Jersey in 2021, Beth’s interest in IMPACT100SJ was piqued when reading the profile of a Leadership Council member in a local lifestyle magazine. She checked out the organization’s website and its robust offerings, which sealed the deal on her membership application. She completed the paperwork, joined the Grant Finance and Grant Review committees and there was no looking back. No stranger to nonprofit and board engagement, Beth is impressed with IMPACT100SJ’s mission of leveraging the power of collective giving and making a significant impact on local non-profits via IMPACT100SJ’s grant-making process. Being new to the area, Beth was curious to learn more about the area and its needs. Win-win. Beth is a longtime “joiner” and, more importantly a “doer”. As a retired CPA financial advisor,…
