These events are open exclusively to 2023 & 2024 members. Heart of Camden Winter Coat Drive NOW through December 15th We are taking part in the Heart of Camden‘s Winter Coat Drive. This is yet another way Impact100 South Jersey and our members support our grantees beyond the check. In addition to dropping off new or gently used coats, hoodies, sweaters, hats and gloves at the Heart of Camden location at 1840 South Broadway, you can also drop items at the homes and offices of Impact100 South Jersey members until December 8th. Member Spotlight: Mimi Butler

Member Profiles

Mimi Butler calls herself a ‘volunteer-holic’. When she attended middle school, someone asked her to go door to door to raise money for a disease. She knew then that a great part of her life would be to always give back. Mimi’s parents were extremely active with Einstein hospital, Philadelphia. Originally, they were involved only with the Philadelphia Psychiatric hospital, later named Belmont Comprehensive Center. Her mother volunteered weekly at this hospital for the psychiatric needs of children and adults. When Mimi was a teenager, she joined her mother at weekend events. She even remembers winning a basket of wine at a luncheon before age 21. Once Mimi’s Mom passed, Mimi continued her legacy at Belmont organizing holiday parties and fundraisers. The build site is located at 649 Royden St., Camden, NJ 08103 and is part of their Homeownership Program. It’s currently vacant and being renovated to, upon completion, be sold to a family to help them achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life. Here's more proof that ours is a community of compassionate, generous women who are always thinking about how they can improve the lives of others. Our deepest thanks to Beth Gamel, who saw a need and responded quickly! She and four other Impact100 South Jersey members took part in the Heart of Camden's CARE Drive donating diapers and feminine hygiene products. Impact100 South Jersey’s 2020 Core Mission grantee LUCY Outreach has grown in so many ways over the past few years. Their physical space, number of young people and families served, and their staff have all increased and are enjoying their 10,000 sq. ft. dream building! Two-time Grantee, Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS)of Cumberland & Salem Counties sees Impact100SJ members as a path to their success. BBBS of Cumberland & Salem Counties has received two Impact100 South Jersey grants in four years. In 2019, they were awarded our Core Mission grant of $100K to help launch their new Mentor2.0 project which uses iMentor technology to match high school students with mentors. This year, they were one of two 2023 recipients of a $55,500 general operating grant. The BBBS mission is “to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of young people. Their vision is that all youth achieve their full potential. A member since 2019, Cindy Washko-Margraf was a bit disappointed that she didn’t know about Impact100 South Jersey one year earlier. Being a philanthropist at heart, she deeply endorses the concept of collective giving and would have loved to have been a charter member. Nevertheless, she is very proud to be a member for the last five years and to be a part of such an impactful group of women making a real difference in South Jersey. Cindy and her late husband raised their children in Medford though she recently sold the family home and now lives full time in their Ocean City home. BEYOND THE CHECK: Ways to Support Grantee Ronald McDonald House

Beyond The Check

2019 General Operating grantee Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey offers hope, help, and home for families of seriously ill children. They do this by providing accommodations for families and pediatric patients who receive treatment at local hospitals within the Philadelphia region. It is proven that children heal faster and parents experience less stress when they are together during times of critical illness or traumatic injury. In 2019, RMHSNJ applied for $100,000 to replace carpet throughout the facility with engineered hard wood floors that would be easier to clean and maintain. Although they were awarded a $27,500 general operating grant, a generous Impact100 South Jersey member whose family owned a flooring business completed the project for $27,500.
