As we close out Women’s History Month, it is timely that we shine our spotlight on the work of the Alice Paul Institute (API), a 2020 Impact100 SJ general operating grantee. API is located in Mt. Laurel at Paulsdale, a National Historic Landmark that is the birthplace and childhood home of suffragist and equality activist Alice Paul. Their mission is to honor the legacy of Alice Paul’s work toward gender equality through education and leadership development. The organization is committed to positively impacting the ongoing, intersectional struggle for gender equality. API offers leadership programs for teen girls and civic engagement programs for men and women of all ages that connect history to current events and issues. Impact100 South Jersey Raised and Will Award $211,000 in Grants to Local Nonprofits in 2023

Impact100 South Jersey announced that for 2023 it has recruited 211members, which will allow the group to award $211,000 to local nonprofits. Since launching in 2017, Impact100 South Jersey has raised $1,035,360 for organizations serving Burlington, Camden, Gloucester & Cumberland Counties. 2023 Members gathered Wednesday, January 11 for The Big Reveal and Celebration at the Camden County Boathouse in Pennsauken, NJ to learn the results of the fall 2022 collective giving membership drive. “It is an absolute thrill to have raised over $million dollars one member at a time,” said Impact100 South Jersey President Kyle Ruffin, “We are proud to be a catalyst for South Jersey women who want to bring transformative change to local nonprofits addressing needs in the region we all love.” Impact100 grant review volunteers have already begun…

NJ Agricultural Society's Farmers Against Hunger program (FAH), a 2021 Impact100 South Jersey General Operating Grantee, has been working through a perfect storm of national challenges at the local level. Meeting the needs of struggling farmers, families, and community organizations facing a pandemic, inflation, and drought made their programs even more critical to the region. But they have shown up and flexed to meet the demand. New Jersey farmers faced so many obstacles this year and many were not able to offer the amount of surplus crops that they have in the past. Abnormal climate conditions, such as early spring followed by spring frost that damaged plantings, combined with drought later in the season, made growing conditions extremely challenging. How to bring joy to kids? Bring Alpacas to Ronald McDonald House. YES, Alapacas. Supporting our grantees and their missions can take many forms. Impact100 South Jersey Nonprofit Outreach Committee Co-Chair Sue Levy-Polikoff arranged a visit from Morning Glori Farmette located in Marlton, NJ for the first ever Alpaca visit. Rocky and Party Crasher were a big hit, even though some families were a bit apprehensive in the beginning. During another visit, Sue taught Yoga to parents, staff and some of the kids who are undergoing treatment or post op treatment/therapy at local hospitals." I don't think the parents realized how much they needed this till they noticed their bodies starting to relax which is huge." Pinelands Preservation Alliance and Impact100 South Jersey, Perfect Together!

Impact100 South Jersey members had a picture perfect day to experience the beauty of the Pinelands with a hike at the Black Run Preserve in Evesham Township. The hike was led by Carleton Montgomery, Executive Director of the Pinelands Preservation Alliance (PPA), one of our two 2022 $50,000 general operating grantees. Carleton was excited to share their work with our members when Nonprofit Outreach committee member, Susan Andrew, reached out to organize this meetup. During the 1.5 hour hike through the preserve, members were treated to beautiful scenery and an overview of the history of the Pinelands. They learned about the unique composition of the water and soil that make this ecosystem different from other forest habitats. Impact100 South Jersey donates grants to county nonprofits

Pinelands alliance and Cedar Run refuge get $50,000 each By MATTHEW SHINKLE August 23, 2022 About five years ago, a small group of South Jersey women had the goal of organizing their own branch of Impact 100, a women’s collective that awards more than $100,000 in grant funds annually to area nonprofits. The initial group of six founding members was able to recruit the necessary number of members to jumpstart Impact100 South Jersey, connecting women across Camden, Gloucester and Burlington counties who were interested in assisting local charities and nonprofits. The group recently announced awards of $100,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Cumberland County and two $50,000 grants to the Pinelands Preservation Alliance and the Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge. 2022 Grantee Farmers Against Hunger Grows Its Impact Despite Challenges After receiving Impact100 South Jersey’s 2022 $50k General Operating Grant in 2022, Farmers Against Hunger (FAH) increased its capacity to stem hunger through a variety of methods. FAH is a program of the New Jersey Agriculture Society and it focuses on reducing food waste by collecting and redistributing food from food retailers and farmers to organizations that serve people striving to succeed. Executive Director Brooke McMinn shared the many ways the program has grown. Among the things FAH has done since receiving the grant: Expanded the raised garden bed plot and installed new plantings to supplement food donations and serve as resources for local community educational programs.Installed a concrete pad to support food donation deliveries to their storage site where food is…

Boys & Girls Clubs of Cumberland County Awarded $100k Core Mission Grant

Congratulations to our 2022 Grant Recipients! This year, we are proud to announce that collectively our members awarded $200,000 in grants to three South Jersey nonprofits at the group’s Annual Meeting held on June 15, 2022, at Maggiano’s Restaurant in Cherry Hill, NJ. A $100,000 Core Mission grant was awarded to the Boys and Girls Club of Cumberland County in Vineland. The grant will be used to extend their current building (a former credit union), more than doubling its existing space and increasing the number of young people they serve. Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge (Medford, NJ) and the Pinelands Preservation Alliance (Southampton, NJ) will receive $50k general operating grants.
