$193,500 In Grants Awarded To SJ Nonprofits During Virtual Annual Meeting

Impact100 South Jersey awarded $193,500 in grants to 4 South Jersey non-profits at the group’s Annual Meeting held virtually on June 10th at 6PM.

A $100,000 core mission grant was awarded to LUCY Outreach in Camden to fund the expansion of Trauma-Informed Care Services and the integration of those principles and practices into their organizational culture.  LUCY Outreach provides multilingual, culturally sensitive services to low-income teens and young adults and their families.

Alice Paul Institute in Mt. Laurel and Family Promise of Southwestern NJ in Glassboro each received general operating grants for $43,000.  Alice Paul applied for a grant to create a Girls Empowerment Project using YouTube to reach girls ages 10 to 17 with content focused on Alice Paul’s story and philosophies from both an historic and contemporary perspective.  Family Promise seeks to expand their Student Transportation Program, which provides transportation to homeless school age so they can remain in their original sending district.

In addition, a special $7,500 grant was given to Cathedral Kitchen which came in fourth in the semi-final round of grant review.  The extra grant was the result of cost savings that came from Impact100 changing its meeting from in-person to virtual. Earlier in the year, Impact100 also donated $1,860 – $10 from each of the 186 2020 members’ admin fee — to the South Jersey COVID-19 Response Fund.

Impact100 South Jersey began in 2017 and has awarded more than $424,000 to South Jersey nonprofits. It is one of more than 50 chapters around the world and the only one focused solely on South Jersey. Impact100 South Jersey is among 4 in NJ, which combined contributed $1 million dollars to New Jersey nonprofits in the last year.

The Impact100 model is simple — each member contributes $1,000 toward large, transformative grants for nonprofits in their communities. Impact100 South Jersey is a Special Interest Fund at the Community Foundation of South Jersey and a member of Philanos, a resource for women’s giving circles.
