Impact100 SJ Receives Oaks Integrated Care’s Rooted In Community Award

On June 8, Impact100 South Jersey was among four recipients of Oaks Integrated Care's Rooted In Community Awards. The event took place at Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ. Oaks Integrated Care is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children, adults and families living with a mental illness, addiction or developmental disability. The organization offers over 230 health and social service programs throughout New Jersey designed to meet the needs of our community with compassion. BEYOND THE CHECK: An Evening In The Wild

Gathered around a campfire and greeted by Phoebe the skunk (scent glands removed!), Impact100 SJ members enjoyed an evening in nature with 2021 grantee Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge. Over a casual dinner, wine, and s’mores we learned that the refuge sees and treats over 6,000 wild animals annually and reorients animals that have lost their natural survival ability. The goal is to release them back to the wild when ready, but some become residents at the refuge if they are unable to return to their natural habitats.
