Boys & Girls Club of Cumberland County Breaks Ground On New Addition

In 2022, Boys & Girls Clubs of Cumberland County was awarded $100,000 to expand their space in Vineland. Unfortunately, skyrocketing, post-COVID construction costs slowed their expected progress. The original project became out of reach and the board and staff was forced to rethink their plans. They went back to the drawing board to revise their original construction plan, raised more money and found new contractors willing to complete the project.

On Thursday, March 27th, the dream finally began to take tangible shape during the long-awaited groundbreaking. Members of the club, the staff and Board, the construction team and the community were on hand for the exciting moment the project got officially underway. Boys & Girls Club president Chris Volker Board President Carolyn Kasper, long-time Board Member Diane Fischer, Board President Carolyn Kasper and Impact100 South Jersey Grant Review Chair Ronda Urkowitz broke ground with shovels as Youth of the Year Andranae Sam operated the heavy equipment guided Mike Gallagher, the head of the construction company responsible for the project.

After the addition is completed, a major part of the programs offered will highlight S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math).  This will also complement the work of the Boys & Girls Club that concentrates on workforce development and career exploration.
