How the 2019 Grant Process Will Work

Step 1. Determine Eligibility

Organizations considering applying for a grant should consult the Eligibility and Guidelines and the Grant FAQs to familiarize themselves with our grant process and to determine their likelihood of receiving funding.

IMPORTANT: All applicants must submit proposals for the full $100,000 Core Mission grant.

Step 2. Submit a Full Proposal

Applicants shall submit a full proposal that must be complete and include all required forms and information by 5 PM on Friday, February 15, 2019.

Proposals and supporting documents must be uploaded to our Proposal Submission page.

Step 3.  Site Visit

Impact100 SJ Focus Area Committees will review all proposals and notify applicants by mid-April if they have been selected for a site visit. Those organizations not selected for a site visit are considered to be no longer in the running for a grant.

The goal of the site visit is to conduct further due diligence into the organization and resolve any final questions. Site visits will be conducted in between April 22 & May 10, 2019, and should include the participation of the organization’s Executive Director as well as the main financial representative and, ideally, a board member.

Step 4.  Selection of Finalists

Following the site visits, each Focus Area Committee will select one finalist. The three finalists will be announced on May 29. Finalists will receive guidelines for making presentations to the Impact100 SJ membership at the Annual Meeting on June 12th.

Step 5. Finalist Presentation and Selection of Grantee

At the Annual Meeting, Impact100 SJ members will vote by individual ballot (or by absentee ballot in advance of the Annual Meeting) to select the grant recipient. The voting results will be tabulated and announced at the event.

That evening, the organization that receives the most votes will be awarded a $100,000 Core Mission Grant. The two runner-up organizations will each be awarded General Operating grants for $27,500.

Prior to the release of the grant funds, each organization must complete a Grant Agreement with Impact100 SJ. The Core Mission grant may be distributed in installments, depending on the terms agreed upon by the recipient and Impact100 SJ. The Core Mission grant recipient will be required to submit periodic reports on the project to Impact100 SJ as specified in the Grant Agreement.
